In the first quarter of 2025, Clean Start Africa empowered 1,213 formerly incarcerated women through strategic programs, leadership training, and partnerships. Milestones included WOJO graduations, parenting workshops, and expanding support chapters—demonstrating resilience, dignity, and hope for justice-impacted women across Kenya.
As we reflect on 2022 and optimize our impact, I attended the Wellbeing Summit in Bilbao, Spain—an inspiring gathering of global leaders highlighting the urgent need for structural well-being in public policy.
As we conclude the second year of our three-year strategic plan, Clean Start has expanded programs, empowered women, and championed justice reform. We’ve reached 23 prisons, established 87 businesses, and fostered transformative community leadership.
Clean Start empowers formerly imprisoned women, addressing poverty criminalization through sustainable livelihoods, education, and advocacy. Their impactful programs have reached prisons, built businesses, and fostered community-led change across Kenya.
